All About Desi

Desi is five, and loves all things beautiful–and pink. She is all girl, from head to toe, no doubt about it. She loves to wear dresses and skirts–for any occasion. She will wear pants, but they must not be plain denim (”demin”), but have sparklies, have pretty designs all over them, cute designer pockets, and/or be pink, of course. She loves to have her hair done pretty, and will stand still for as long as it takes me to do that. She adores having her nails polished, and loves to put on her matching lip gloss–the more glitter, the better! Occasionally, Mommy has to put on Desi’s nail polish, so we match, you know, because then we can be pretty princesses together.

Desi is highly intelligent. She has the memory of an elephant, and must know how everything in her world operates, and why. She’s learning to read, and can’t get enough. She must know how everything is spelled, and … “how did you know that, Mommy? Because you’re smart, like me?” Her favorite books are Dr. Seuss, and the Berenstain Bears. She also loves to play with her My First LeapPad and her Leapster handheld, which is pink, of course.

She loves to play board games and cards. Her favorite game to play is the Peanut Butter & Jelly Card Game. Friday night is our special family time and game night, and we cannot miss it, or her whole world is thrown upside down. Her favorite TV show is the Backyardigans, which I must say, is my favorite kids show, too. It has everything–cute characters, fun songs with a different genre every day, and laugh out loud cute, funny things that parents enjoy. In winter, she loves to go ice-skating, and her favorite summer things to do are play in her sandbox, go camping and fishing, and swimming. Thanks to Papa, her favorite spectator sport is Bullriding. Even at 3, she would sit through a 3-hour long rodeo, just to get to the bullriding event at the end. She is quite the good Mutton’ Buster, too!

Her ultimate favorite thing in all the world is . . . Cinderella! Her room is themed in Disney Princesses, and anything Cinderella is good. Her favorite princesses, besides Cinderella, are Ariel (because she sings so pretty) and Snow White (because she’s so kind and loving to her dwarf friends).
