For those of you who don’t know, or who may have forgotten, here’s a little background on how we got started.
Stason and I met on a singles dating website in October of 2004. We chatted online for a couple weeks, then graduated to talking on the phone for a couple more weeks, then decided to meet in person. Our first date was on November 13, 2004, and we were engaged on March 19, 2005. Me got married May 28, 2005 in a small, intimate ceremony, then had a reception for our family and friends on August 6, 2005.
After our wedding, we rode the train to Glenwood Springs for a few days and stayed in the historic Hotel Colorado. At the end of August, we went to Cancun for the time of our lives, and barely got out before the hurricanes hit!
In August of 2005 (yes, three short months after we got married), when she was 2 1/2 years old, my little cousin (twice removed), who was the flower girl in our wedding, came to live with us. She eventually became our daughter and the adoption was finalized November 18, 2006. We could not have asked for a better way to start our lives together. There were a miriad of things to get used to right away–each other, being married, being new homeowners, and a daughter. But Desi is the best thing that ever happened to us.
